Bring your honey and meet us at the Quail Hollow Carriage House where we’ll get up-close and personal with our bee-free classroom hive to learn about all things honeybees and hives. Decorate your honey jar, use a honey extractor to extract your own honey, then suit up and take a short walk to see our honeybees hard at work in their hive. All materials included in cost, registration is per couple. Only register one member of your party.

What does it take to become a skilled archer? Join us for an evening class full of recreational shooting. Learn about the equipment, proper shooting technique, and safety before spending some time working on your skills. All equipment will be provided, and classes are taught by USA Archery certified staff. Participants should arrive on time and must wear closed toe shoes. Participants must be 18 year of age to sign up. Pre-registration is required, and due to limited class size please let us know if you cannot attend for any reason so we can notify those on the waitlist.

Join the Stark Soil & Water Conservation District to learn about the threats to our streams and how to properly manage them. This presentation will introduce you to important concepts of water rights and stewardship. Stream conservation benefits our homes, communities, and wildlife! This class is a part of the Stark Parks backyard habitat certification program.

Join Ernie’s Bicycle Shop for a free monthly guided night ride. Starting from the Lake Avenue Trailhead, we’ll head out on the Sippo or Towpath trails to enjoy the evening and see these familiar paths in a whole new light (or lack thereof). This is a 14- to 18-mile beginner-friendly ride over flat terrain, with an Ernie’s team member at the front and rear of the group. Riders must have a helmet and bikes must be equipped with head and taillight. Times vary according to sunset. No fee to participate. Rental bikes are available for a nominal cost with advance registration. This is a FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT.

Join the 2nd Annual Stark County Bird Quest. This family-friendly, 24-hour challenge has two goals in mind - get people into the outdoors using birds as a catalyst, and to accumulate data about bird populations in Stark County. This event is free including resources on where to go birding, guided walks during the event, and the celebration at the end. Attention all adventurous women! Join us for an exclusive weekend retreat at Walborn Reservoir! This women-only event promises a variety of activities to cater to all interests and comfort levels. From crafts to archery and the thrilling annual WOW Dash, there's something for everyone! Camp starts at 10 AM on Saturday, September 21, and will conclude at 1 PM on Sunday, September 22. This program is for women who are 18 years and older, and registration is required to attend. Lodging will be tent camping. Participants should bring their own tent. Join us on the Tuscarawas River for an evening clean up! Volunteers will follow the Towpath walking south starting at Lock 4 along the limestone trail and in the water. Representatives from Stark Parks will provide gloves, trash bags, life jackets, and waders. Volunteers who are in the water will be pulling a canoe or kayak provided by Stark Parks. This event promotes positive interactions between law enforcement and citizens while enjoying the sport of fishing. The event will be a catfish contest only. Only shoreline fishing at Walborn Reservoir will be permitted. There will be a donation of $5 per person that will go toward the Stark County Park District Ranger Explorer Program. Registration will begin on site at 5:00pm. Fishing will begin at 5:00 pm. All catfish must be checked in by 11:00 pm to be counted. Prizes will be awarded at 11:00 pm.

Enjoy a glimpse of Stark Parks’ newest addition to our district, Pike Ridge Park. This guided hike will cover about 2.5 miles of this 506-acre tranquil countryside, showcasing rolling terrain, ponds and elevated views of open grasslands. The flora, fauna and special history will show why this land was selected to be part of our county parks’ system. Be prepared for uneven terrain and steep hills that are not conducive to strollers, and be sure to bring plenty of water.
The park is not currently open to the public and is only accessible through guided tours. More detailed location information will be sent after you register.

Are you a fan of Ohio frontier history? Do you relish touring historical homes with their unique designs and hearing the stories of the families who lived there? Then you are sure to enjoy a guided tour of the 100-year-old, 1920s era, H.B. Stewart Manor House. Tours begin promptly at 2 pm and last approximately one hour. This building has no elevator so be prepared to climb stairs

Beginning on land, participants will learn the essentials of trip planning, types of paddling equipment, and key safety practices while paddling. Then, take these newfound skills onto the water as we practice basic paddling techniques to kayaking with confidence. No prior experience necessary. All necessary equipment provided. Dress prepared to possibly get wet.

Bring an instrument and join in, or enjoy listening to traditional, bluegrass, and Celtic tunes. $2 admission for everyone. Music Nights are held inside the Manor House on select Thursdays from June through September. No registration required.

Whether you’re a beginner beekeeper or a seasoned hobbyist, “bee” sure to register for this beekeeping series to learn about all things bees, hives and honey! This month, we’ll be learning about how the hives function, then we'll suit up and head to the hives to get a closer look at the bees in action. Closed-toe shoes are required. Pre-registration is required due to limited number of bee suits.

In partnership with Alliance City Parks, Discovery Day is filled with free outdoor activities for the whole family, from kayak try-its, to live animals, hoverball archery, and more! Kayaking Rules: Kayak Try-Its require a waiver to be signed on-site. Participants under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a legal guardian.
Minimum age of 10 for solo kayaking. Tandem Kayak – Maximum of 2 people and one paddler must be 16+. Adults (18+) required for children under 8. (Up to 550 lbs.)

Join the Trailhead Canoe Livery and enjoy the Tuscarawas River by the light of the moon for a monthly night canoe event! Stark Parks naturalists will be guiding this float for the first group of paddlers. Paddle 3 miles downriver as twilight sets in, then enjoy hot dogs and s’mores around a riverside campfire. Boats will launch between 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm. Fee: $25 per person.

Certified yoga instructor Kim Kohler will help you challenge yourself while working at your own level in a safe and supportive environment. Modifications are offered to appeal to all skill levels.
