Only one registration needed per couple. Start your date at the Exploration Gateway and hike with us to the Wildlife Conservation Center by lantern light to meet our nocturnal animal ambassadors. Along the way, learn about the habits and adaptations of nocturnal animals, such as owls and bats! We will end this evening warming up around the campfire and listening for more wildlife.

Do you wonder how your feathered friends prepare for the winter? Come explore and learn how birds adapt to survive the winter season! Enjoy a story, complete a craft, and take a short hike. Be prepared to go outside.

This introductory-level archery program is for youth; ages 10-17. This class emphasizes safety, proper shooting form, and recreational target shooting. All equipment will be provided. Please wear closed-toe shoes, and registration is required.

Over the past decade, urban sprawl has increased at an alarming rate. Due to this trend, our native wildlife have been forced to relocate as their habitats disappear. As individuals, we may not be able to stop this devastating trend, but we can help reintroduce wildlife back into our yards. This program is just one in a series of programs to help certify your backyard as a valuable and sustainable ecosystem for wildlife. Participants will receive instructions about getting their yard the ""Certified Backyard Habitat"" designation by Stark Parks naturalists.

The hike-a-thon is back! Ring in the winter season with the shortest day of the year, by hiking all day at several Stark Parks locations! You may choose to hike all day long and follow the staff from site to site or you can pick which hike(s) you would like to attend. You are registering for the Sippo Lake segment. Locations and times are:
(3 miles) Exploration Gateway at Sippo Lake Park - 7:30 am to 9 am (5712 12th St. NW Canton, OH 44708)
(3 to 3.50 miles) West Branch Trail: Timken Gatehouse - 10am to 12 pm (1305 Stadium Park Dr. NW Canton OH, 44708)
(3 miles) Middle Branch Trail: Veterans Park - 1 pm to 2:30 pm (1714 Schneider St. Canton 44721)
(2 miles) Walborn Reservoir Marina- 3:30 pm -5 pm (11324 Price St. NE Alliance, 44601)

Members of the Park Commission are very interested in your thoughts and comments, and invite members of the public to the monthly meetings.

The challenge is to endure 5.5 miles while running or walking the unique topography this location has to offer in the winter. The goal is to complete the course in 3 hours from when you start, so you better run/walk fast! This event will start and end at the Visitor Center parking lot. Check-in will begin at 11:00 am, and participants may begin the challenge any time between 11-11:30 am. Each participant will be given a course map to assist them on their journey. The trails will not be groomed for this event. Free hot chocolate will be available in Visitor Center afterward to warm up. This event is open to both runners and walkers of all ages, but trails are not conducive to strollers. This event will take place rain, snow, or shine. Registration is required on or before 2/3/25, and a $5 fee will reserve your spot and cover the cost of materials.

If you are interested in learning a new hobby, or want to grow your skills as a woodcarver, check out our woodcarving classes. Whether you are a beginner or novice, there are opportunities to learn for all. Carving volunteers will be available to help you get started. You are welcome to bring your own equipment and wood but is not required. Preregistration is required as there are limited supplies available. Adults must remain with any children under 18 years of age.

Meet one of our wildlife ambassadors as you learn the importance of providing safe habitats for their survival. Then, put your DIY skills to the test as you build your very own bat box. All tools and materials provided. Price includes 1 kit per family. You only need to register one family member, and in the registration comments tell us how many will be attending with your group. Registration required due to limited materials.

Certified yoga instructor Kim Kohler will help you challenge yourself while working at your own level in a safe and supportive environment. Modifications are offered to appeal to all skill levels.
